It’s official: Sandviken will host the Y17 and Y19 Bandy World Championships in 2025, with Sandvikens AIK serving as co-organizer alongside the Swedish Bandy Federation.

The upcoming dual championships for Y17 and Y19 will take place in Sweden. After a call for hosting applications was sent to bandy clubs, it has now been decided that Sandvikens AIK will co-organize the event. The championships will be held in January 2025 at Göransson Arena in Sandviken.

– We are very pleased that Sandvikens AIK wants to co-host the Y17 and Y19 World Championships in 2025. The last time Sweden hosted these age categories, the event was a great success in terms of both gameplay and audience. We hope to replicate that success in Sandviken, said Pär Gustafsson, Secretary General of the Swedish Bandy Federation.

– It’s also beneficial for the sport to geographically distribute major events. The Men’s and Women’s World Championships will take place in southern Sweden in Lidköping, while the Junior World Championships will be held further north. Additionally, the Swedish Cup finals are moving north to Bollnäs this year, while the Bandy Finals will remain in Västerås, Gustafsson continued.

– We at SAIK Bandy are delighted and proud to announce that we have been entrusted with hosting the U17 and U19 World Championships. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our excellent arena and passion for bandy on the international stage. We look forward to welcoming players, coaches, officials, and fans to Sandviken and Göransson Arena, said Rafi Markarian, Club Manager at Sandvikens AIK BK.

It is also confirmed that Sweden will host the Men’s and Women’s World Championships in March 2025.
