The game schedule for the Y17 and Y19 WC in Sandviken in January 2025 has been determined. The increasing interest in youth bandy and the WC tournament internationally means that the championship is extended by an extra game day to make room for more matches, when new nations have joined.
The world championship will now start on Thursday 16th January and the finals, in both age categories, will be played on Sunday 19th January. The championship is organized by the Swedish Bandy Federation with Sandvikens AIK as co-organiser.
Participating nations are currently Sweden, Norway, Finland, Slovakia and Hungary.
– It feels really great that the interest in the Y17 and Y19 WC is so great. We are of course looking forward to having more nations on site and to give the audience a longer and more eventful championship, says Pierre Roos at the Swedish Bandy Federation, who is the project manager for the Y17 and Y19 WC.
– The fact that more countries want to compete at this level is an indication that international bandy is something to be reckoned with, which is great for the future of the sport. Now more young talents get the chance to develop, and at the same time, inspire the next generation. And with greater international participation, we get more opportunities to collaborate across national borders, says Pierre Roos.
